Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Watermelon Chess (“the App”, “we”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the iOS application and related online services.
Operator: Metehan Temur (individual developer).
Contact: metehantemurr@gmail.com
Offline modes (Single Player, Two Player, Learn) work without an account. Online features require Sign in with Apple.
1. Information we collect
Account (online only, via Sign in with Apple)
- Apple user identifier
- Email address, if Apple provides it
- Name, if you share it during the first Apple sign-in
- Public username and country (detected from your device region at signup; you can change it)
- Game profile: ELO rating, gold (virtual currency), wins/losses/draws, streaks, achievements
Gameplay and social
- Match history (opponents, result, mode, gold used, duration)
- Friend requests, friendships, and mute list
- Leaderboard rankings derived from ELO and gold
Device and technical data
- On login and when an online match starts: platform, OS version, app/build version, device name, device model, IP address
- Diagnostic logs (info/warning/error messages) sent from the app to our servers to fix bugs
- Language preference and session token stored locally on your device (Secure Storage)
Support messages
- The text you send, your account ID, IP address, and device information
- We do not use this channel to reply to you; it is for reviewing bugs and feedback
Purchases
- In-app gold packs are processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We store product ID, transaction ID, and gold granted so purchases are not credited twice. We do not receive your full payment card details.
We do not require a custom password. Authentication uses Apple. We do not sell your personal data.
2. How we use information
- Create and maintain your online account
- Matchmaking, ranked/arena/quick play, friends, and leaderboards
- Grant daily rewards, gold, and username changes
- Prevent abuse, cheating, and duplicate purchases
- Diagnose crashes and connection issues
- Meet App Store and legal requirements
3. Tracking and advertising
On iOS we may ask for App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission. If you allow tracking, this permission can be used to measure ads and show more relevant advertising. You can refuse; the App still works.
If we show ads in the future, they will be provided by third-party networks subject to their own policies. You can reset or limit tracking in iOS Settings.
4. Third parties
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store, in-app purchases
- RevenueCat — purchase validation and entitlements
- Hosting / database providers — store accounts, matches, and logs
These providers process data only as needed to run the App.
5. Retention
- Account and match data: while your account exists, and as needed after deletion so other players’ history still makes sense
- Device events and logs: for a limited operational period (typically up to 12 months) unless a longer period is required for security or law
- Support messages: until reviewed, then deleted or anonymized within a reasonable time
6. Account deletion
You can delete your account in Online Settings. Deletion is treated as permanent in the App. In practice we:
- Mark the account deleted and anonymize your public username
- Clear the Apple identifier so you can create a new account with the same Apple ID
- Remove friendships and mute records
- Keep past match results so opponents’ history is not erased
Purchased gold is forfeited on deletion and is not refunded, except where Apple’s refund rules apply.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including GDPR/KVKK), you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of processing. Contact CONTACT_EMAIL. For Sign in with Apple data you can also manage the connection in Apple ID settings.
The App is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an online account if you are under 13.
8. Security and international transfer
We use HTTPS, token-based authentication, and access controls. No method is 100% secure. Data may be processed on servers outside your country.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
